For over one hundred years the American Red Cross has been providing assistance to individuals affected by a disaster. We are dedicated to helping people across the United States and its territories prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Created as a humanitarian organization the American Red Cross strives to function within the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, Universality. These principles are not the only guidelines for the American Red Cross. On January 5, 1905 the American Red Cross received its Congressional Charter under which we still operate today.

The programs of the American Red Cross are made possible by the voluntary services and financial support of the American people.
