Callaway County United Way Reaches Goal!

$220,000 will fund 14 agencies in Callaway County for 2008

Fulton, MO, January 17, 2008:  The Board of Directors of the Callaway County United Way announced today that they have reached their goal.  Over $220,000 has been collected and pledged to fund agencies in Callaway County throughout 2008.

“We are so grateful to this community,” said Board President, Cathi Miller Harris.  “The important work that is done every day in this community is obviously a priority,” Miller-Harris continued, “not only to us, but to the thousands of people who gave their hard-earned dollars to keep it going.  From the Board of Directors, the volunteers, our Executive Director, the agencies we fund and the people who are helped by these funds…we say ‘Thank You,’ from the bottom of our hearts.”

These funds are earmarked to subsidize 14 local agencies that provide over 200 services to 10,000 people in Callaway County.  Those agencies are: The American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Callaway County 4-H, Callaway Senior Center, CardV, Family Counseling Center, Girl Scouts, HAVEN House, HeadStart, Kingdom Projects, Kingdom Respite Care, Mid Missouri Legal Services, SERVE, and the YMCA.

The Callaway County United Way will hold hearings in May of this year to determine which community agencies will be funded next year and will gear up for their next campaign in the fall.  Next year’s goal has not yet been determined.

The mission of the Callaway County United Way is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another by serving as a funding entity to provide financial support to high priority human service agencies and as a community catalyst to match local needs with human service providers.
